Tattoo Care No-No's

A&D, Vaseline, Neosporin, Mad Rabbit, Oils
DO NOT use Vaseline, A&D Ointment, Neosporin, Essential or organic oils, Antiseptic creams or sprays, Petroleum based ointments, Tegaderm, or anything that could trap bacteria, clog pores, and/or cause an anaerobic environment. Wounds require oxygen to heal properly.
Swimming, Baths, Working out, Sweating
To prevent ink fallout, DO NOT soak or submerge your new tattoo in water such as bathtubs, pools, jacuzzies, and limit sweating. SHOWERS ARE FINE as long as you are not running constant water on the fresh wound for more than 1 minute.
Tanning, UV exposure, Sunlight
To prevent ink from spreading prematurely, DO NOT expose your tattoo to the sun, tanning beds, UV rays or the likes. UV rays can break down ink particles causing tattoos to age faster.
Friction, Clothing
Tattoos in high friction areas such as hands, feet, and joints tend to have fading and ink fallout due to the nature of their placement. In general, DO NOT wear tight, textured, or rough clothing on your new tattoo! Your healing tattoo needs to breath, and threads could snag on peeling scabs. The more it rubs, the less it'll stick!
Scabbing, Scratching, & Peeling
DO NOT SCRATCH PICK or PEEL as your tattoo heals. This could cause ink to be pulled with the scab. Best thing to do is to keep the skin moisturized so no scab develops. In the case you have unbearable itching, lightly tapping the affected area seems to do the trick!
Pets, Pet hair
It in important to be extra careful when you own pets and have a fresh tattoo. Pet hair and pet dander are the fastest way to get contact dermatitis. Make sure to NOT rub your tattoo on items with pet dander or hair such as couches, beds, chair, clothes, flooring, or even the animal themselves.
